- Be your child’s best parent and not their best friend when it comes to the onlife world.
- Model good onlife behavior, parenting matters on this important topic.
- Pay attention to what your child is doing online, if don’t someone else will, and who knows who that someone will be.
- Remember that stranger danger doesn’t work, teach them about the grooming process instead.
- Impart your values and encourage positive digital literacy and don’t forget to have that digital dinner once a week.
- Establish time limits and remember there is a difference between being a consumer of social media compared to a producer, creator, and change maker.
- Don’t forget about our Familly Collective Agreement that will help to set family boundaries for the acceptable use of technology
- Encourage a balanced approach to the onlife world.
- Make your child accountable for their action and explain to them what is at stake specific to their digital dossier.
- Remind your kids that technology is a privilege to possess and not a right to have. Remove entitlement.
- Find ways to say “yes” when it comes to technology and your kids rather than saying “no” all the time.
- Learn about technology, social platforms, and games that your kids are involved in, it’s not as hard as you think.
- Talk to your kids about the difference between healthy human sexuality, pornography, and hypersexualization.
- Let your kids know that you will always love them no matter what and that you are a safe place to have an open and honest dialogue about anything that happens in their onlife world.
- Lighten up, embrace their world, and enjoy the onlife world together.
- After reading this book, do not take all the technology away, your kids are going to be ok, especially if you are an informed and engaged onlife parent, which you all are given that you have read this book
